The Arab ICT Organization actively participated in the launching Conference of the “CyberSouth+” Project, held on April 17th-18th, 2024, in Portugal.
His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, the Director General of the Arab ICT Organization, participated in the launching conference of the “CyberSouth+” project organized by the Council of Europe on April 17th-18th 2024, in Lisbon, Portugal.
During his intervention, His Excellency the Director General underscored the profound commitment of the Arab ICT Organization to cybersecurity, emphasizing the enduring centrality of “digital trust” in its mission and endeavors.
He elaborated on AICTO’s steadfast dedication to this critical area, pointing out the elaboration and launch of the “Arab Strategy for Cybersecurity” in 2021. Recognizing the myriad challenges confronting the Arab region in cybersecurity, such as the lack of adoption of specific legislation in many Arab countries and the spread of cybersecurity structures, which leads to difficulties in identifying and coordinating areas of intervention.
The elaboration of the “Arab Cybersecurity Strategy” is aimed at redressing these regional challenges and proposing concrete measures to bolster the resilience of Arab nations against ever-evolving and multiplying cyber threats.
In concluding his address, His Excellency, Eng. Ben Amor the Director-General of the Organization, commended the “CyberSouth+” project, expressing aspirations for strengthened cooperation in combating cybercrime and electronic evidence, and reaffirming the AICTO’s vision for the future of cybersecurity in the Arab region, particularly among countries of the Global South. He emphasized the pivotal role of this foundational project in achieving shared objectives and enhancing digital security across the region.
