His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor the Director General of the Arab ICT Organization, participated in the First Arab Postal Leaders Forum, organized by the Universal Postal Union (UPU) from February 12 to 14 2024 in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman.
During his address, His Excellency underscored the critical importance of the postal sector within global economies, noting its vulnerability to cyber-attacks and security breaches due to the substantial volume of sensitive data it handles. He emphasized the imperative of robust security measures to safeguard both data and postal services.
He also emphasized the necessity of bolstering international cooperation as a fundamental strategy for enhancing cybersecurity in the postal domain, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts among postal institutions, governmental bodies, cybersecurity experts, and relevant regional and international organizations such as the Arab ICT Organization. In this context, he highlighted AICTO’s commitment to prioritizing digital trust and cybersecurity through its strategic plans and initiatives.
Furthermore, His Excellency highlighted the AICTO’s endeavors to advance the postal sector, particularly through the “Digital Mail in the Service of Sustainable Economic and Social Development” program. This initiative aims to enhance the efficiency and profitability of postal services while fostering joint initiatives and projects beneficial to the Arab region and its citizens.
