As part of the ongoing preparations for the “AI-Forward Summit,” to be held under the theme “From the Information Society to the Intelligence Society,” marking twenty years since Tunisia hosted the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS), the Minister of Communication Technologies HE. Mr. Sofiene Hemissi received, on Monday, October 6, 2025, at the Ministry’s headquarters, H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO).

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation and coordination between the two parties in relation to the diplomatic, organizational, and logistical arrangements for the Summit, with the aim of ensuring comprehensive preparation, effective implementation, and the success of this major event at both the Arab and international levels.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the importance of this Summit, which aims to evaluate the progress achieved since the World Summit on the Information Society, and to anticipate future transformations driven by the rapid development of artificial intelligence technologies. The Summit also seeks to lay the foundations for a new era based on intelligence, good governance, and sustainable digital development, while strengthening Arab and international dialogue on the future of artificial intelligence and its role in supporting sustainable development and digital transformation in the Arab region.

It is worth noting that high-level participation has been confirmed from:

  • E. the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States,
  • E. the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU),
  • E. the Assistant Director-General for Communication and Information at UNESCO,
    in addition to a number of senior officials and regional and international experts.

The Summit will be held in partnership and collaboration with several international and regional organizations, including:

  • United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)
  • World Internet Conference (WIC)
  • GSM Association (GSMA)
  • United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA)

  • Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO)
  • National Center for Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence in the State of Palestine, along with several other partner institutions.

The “AI Forward Summit”, scheduled to take place from November 30 to December 3, 2025, at the Palais des Congrès in Tunis, aspires to be a leading platform for exchanging visions, experiences, and expertise, and for exploring future prospects for leveraging artificial intelligence in building smart, innovative Arab societies capable of keeping pace with global digital transformations.
