The Arab ICT Organization, headed by its Director General, His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor participated in the meetings of the 56th ordinary session of the Higher Coordinating Committee for Joint Arab Action. This session, presided over by His Excellency the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, convened from April 22nd to April 24th, 2024, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
This meeting discussed several important items, including:
– Preparing an emergency response plan to deal with the negative economic and social repercussions of the Israeli aggression against the State of Palestine,
– Topics related to artificial intelligence presented by joint Arab action organizations and institutions
– Smart Learning Systems
– Unethical uses of artificial intelligence
During the session, the Arab ICT Organization presented its vision on “More Reliable Artificial Intelligence,” highlighting its projects and initiatives aiming at enhancing AI reliability. Notably, the study on “The current state of the Arab region in data exchange/governance and personal data protection” and the Arab Cybersecurity Strategy.
This session underscored the pivotal role of the Arab ICT Organization in the realm of artificial intelligence by endorsing its proposal to establish the « Arab AI Alliance » as a platform for coordinating collective endeavors. Additionally, the session entrusted AICTO with drafting the charter for this « Alliance » and assuming the responsibilities of its technical secretariat.
Significant recommendations pertinent to AICTO’s activities emerged, including:
• Collaborating with specialized Arab organizations to draft an Arab artificial intelligence charter.
• Urging joint Arab action organizations and institutions to intensify endeavors in the AI domain, maximizing its potential while addressing associated challenges.
• Designating the Arab ICT Organization as the technical secretariat for the « Arab AI Alliance ».
