Her Excellency the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin, received at ITU Headquarters in Geneva His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab ICT Organization (AICTO), in a meeting that underscored the shared commitment to strengthening cooperation in the fields of digital transformation and technological innovation.

H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor was accompanied by Eng. Sami Trimch, Director of the ICT Department at AICTO. The discussions took place in the presence of Dr. Bilel Jamoussi, Deputy Director of the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Bureau (TSB), and focused on advancing joint initiatives and exploring new avenues of cooperation between the two institutions.

Particular emphasis was placed on the upcoming “AI-Forward Summit 2026”, scheduled to take place in Hammamet, Tunisia, from 7 to 10 September 2026, with an invitation extended to Her Excellency the Secretary-General to participate and strengthen the partnership, thereby contributing to expanding areas of cooperation and deepening joint work.

Both parties also exchanged views on AICTO’s initiative, AWAIL (Arab & African Women in Advanced Intelligence Leadership), which aims to empower women across the Arab and African regions in the field of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence.

The meeting provided a valuable opportunity to reaffirm the importance of inclusive digital development and to align efforts toward promoting innovation, capacity-building, and responsible AI practices.

Both sides expressed their willingness to continue dialogue and to further strengthen cooperation in support of shared strategic priorities.
