A delegation from the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization (AICTO), led by H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of AICTO, is participating in “TeleHealth Connect – Tunisia 2026,” at the kind invitation of H.E. Dr. Mustapha Ferjani, Minister of Health. The international event is being held from 29 September to 1 October 2026, under the High Patronage of H.E. the President of the Republic of Tunisia.
The event brings together decision-makers, experts, institutions, international organizations and key stakeholders in digital health, telemedicine and artificial intelligence, with the aim of fostering cooperation, exchanging expertise and exploring partnership opportunities across regions, particularly between Africa, the Middle East and North Africa, Europe and Asia.
In this context, H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor delivered an address during the opening session, highlighting the rapid transformations taking place in the health sector driven by advances in digital technologies and artificial intelligence. He emphasized that building a sustainable future for digital health requires robust digital infrastructure, clear regulatory frameworks and standards, effective mechanisms for data protection and trust-building, as well as integrated strategies and strong partnerships.
He also highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in early diagnosis, clinical decision support, health data analysis, personalized medicine, drug discovery and remote patient monitoring, while stressing the importance of governance, data security, privacy protection and building trust in digital solutions.
The Director General underscored that the challenge is not only to build smarter healthcare systems, but also safer, more trusted and more human-centered ones, ensuring that technology and artificial intelligence contribute meaningfully to improving people’s quality of life and enhancing the patient experience.
In this regard, H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor commended Tunisia’s experience in digital hospitals, highlighting it as an example of the potential of digital transformation to improve healthcare services and translate technological innovation into tangible impact.
He further reaffirmed that the Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization considers Arab digital transformation a shared responsibility and continues to serve as an Arab platform for fostering cooperation, exchanging expertise and building partnerships.
Concluding his remarks, H.E. Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor emphasized that the future of healthcare cannot be built through technology alone, but through a shared vision, shared commitment and shared responsibility, ensuring that digital innovation and artificial intelligence remain firmly focused on serving people and improving the quality of healthcare.
