
As part of its efforts to strengthen joint cooperation in the field of communication and information technologies, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on May 22, 2025, between the Arab ICT Organization and the Iraqi Ministry of Communications at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.
The MoU was signed by His Excellency Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, Director General of the Arab ICT Organization, and Her Excellency Dr. Hiyam Al-Yasiri, Minister of Communications, in the presence of several officials and experts from both sides.
This agreement aims to boost bilateral collaboration in the ICT sector through the implementation of high-quality projects in Iraq. It supports the Ministry’s priorities by contributing to the development of digital infrastructure and enhancing the quality of technical services provided to both citizens and institutions.
This initiative aligns with AICTO’s strategic vision to deepen cooperation with member states, support their digital transformation efforts, and contribute to building a sustainable digital economy—through knowledge exchange and the provision of technical expertise and support.
On this occasion, the Director General reaffirmed the Organization’s ongoing commitment to working closely with the Iraqi Ministry of Communications by launching joint initiatives and providing the expertise needed to support priority national projects.
For her part, H.E. the Minister expressed appreciation for the fruitful collaboration with the Organization and commended its role in offering technical guidance, particularly in the area of Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
The meeting concluded with a shared emphasis on the importance of continued coordination to ensure the effective implementation of the MoU and achieve the shared goal of advancing and strengthening the ICT sector in Iraq.
