The Arab Chinese Cooperation
HE/Eng. Mohamed Ben Amor, AICTO SG, welcomed a delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Tunisia, led by the Counselor/Mr. Zhan Xiaobo, deputy of the head of mission, on Tuesday 21 February 2017, at AICTO headquarters, in Tunis.
On this occasion, both parties discussed the organization of “the first China-Arab States Beidou Satellite Navigation System Cooperation Forum” to be held in Shanghai on 24 May 2017, AICTO being the technical coordinator of this Forum.
The Secretary-General confirmed AICTO commitment to do its best for the success of this important event by encouraging the participation of its members, either from the relevant ministries or its associate members from the private sector operating in the field.
Besides, the discussions dealt with the launch of the joint (AICTO-CSNO) Beidou/GNSS Center of Excellence to be inaugurated soon in Tunis, at Elgazala Technopark, and which will serve as an open window for exchanges and a platform for cooperation, conducting demonstration and leading activities promoting Beidou/GNSS research and development, application, education and training, etc.. focusing on Arab States.
This cooperation is part of the MOU signed between AICTO and the China Satellite Navigation Office (CSNO) on 20 January 2016, on the occasion of the visit of the Chinese President to Egypt.
