Arab Information and Communication Technologies Organization

AICTO Activities

  • Disseminate information about Arab ICT solutions, innovations and software in order to market the relevant Arab production.
  • Participate in collecting, filing, and disseminating studies and research related to identifying Arab future needs in the field of ICT.
  • Organize periodic exhibitions and conferences to inform about achievements and reinforce cooperation and partnership on the Arab level.
  • Promote the exchange of ICT experts between Arab countries.

The scheduled activities will be achieved within the scope of :

  • The Arab Strategy for ICTs – building the Information Society 2007-2012 adopted during the Arab World Summit in its 20th ordinary session (Damascus, 29-30 March 2008),
  • The WSIS recommendations (Geneva, 2003 – Tunis 2005).

For 2008, the following projects have been adopted :

  • “Information Society Indicators in the Arab World”
  • “Mobile TV project”
  • “Arab PKI Forum”
  • “ International Roaming between Arab Countries”


Future projects will be dealing with :

  • E-content
  • Development and promotion of scientific research
  • Building capacity and e-education
  • Cybersecurity.

Co-organization of events :

 

  • «The Arab Common Working Day » organized on the occasion of the 63rd Anniversary of the League of Arab States, Tunis 19 March 2008.
  • "Arab Women and the Globalized Space of Communication" , organized jointly by the Tunisian Ministry for the Affairs of Women, Family, Childhood and the Elderly; the Arab Women Organization, Tunis 25 & 26 March 2008.
  •  “The Expatriate Arab Engineers 1st International Convention” organized jointly by the Federation of Arab Engineers (FAE) and the Order of Tunisian Engineers, Tunis 28th April to  30 April 2008.
