Working Group (WG3) : E-certification & Cybersecurity
WG3 is working, within the scope of the General Arab Strategy for ICTs – building the Information Society until 2012, on developing and achieving pilot projects related to electronic applications according to the Arab region priorities such as :
- E-Gov, e-commerce, information & computer security, e-learning, the legal framework, etc..
The working group is composed of representatives from Member States (Public sector), and Sector Members (Private sector).
« Arab PKI Forum » has been selected to be the first project for 2008.
Arab PKI Forum :
Objectives : develop and promote what has been done by the different Arab parties by creating an Arab PKI Forum.
Tasks :
- Preparing examples of legal frameworks in order to encourage Member states develop secured electronic exchanges between them while benefitting from the relevant international experiences.
- Providing Assistance for capacity building as well as awareness of decision-makers, technicians and users about the importance of securing electronic exchanges.
- Determining a set of criteria and standards to be adopted at the level of relevant infrastructures, services and applications.
- Working on finding out mechanisms for mutual recognition of electronic signature between Arab countries.
- Setting up a unified guide for Root Certification Authorities.
- Providing a unified platform to help solve e-certification relevant problems between Arab countries.
- Making relationships with international organizations and authorities dealing with certification in order to exchange technical experiences (ETSI, IETF, OASIS…).
- Cooperating with other regional fora to exchange experiences and mutual recognition of electronic signature (Asia PKI Forum ,Oasis PKI Forum).
- working on nourishing the Arab information statistical platform for ICTs by setting up a set of indicators dealing with the development of electronic certification services and electronic applications security within Arab countries.
