WG2 is working, within the scope of the General Arab Strategy for ICTs – building the Information Society until 2012, “setting up plans to increase the average rate of telephone lines in relation with the number of inhabitants while promoting the use of intelligent network”.., on developing and achieving pilot projects related to technology convergence, namely Mobile TV.

The working group is composed of representatives from Member States (Public sector), and Sector Members (Private sector), and has started working on its first project : Mobile TV.

Mobile TV project :

The move towards an all-digital broadcasting environment and the convergence of broadcast, telecommunications and multimedia services have encouraged the personal consumption of media such as video contents. Especially with the availability of a wide range of progams thus allowing the viewers to personalize the content they want to watch and when they want to watch it.

Objectives :

• Choose the most suitable mobile TV system for Arab area
• Introduce mobile TV in the Arab region, with regards to the economic and social factors
• Propose suitable mobile TV business model to define relationship between the different actors,
• Suggest adequate legal framework to cope with the development of this emergent market.
