Egypt will host the Imagine Cup 2009 finals on July 4th, 2009 (TBC), making it the first time for the technology tournament to be held in the Middle East and Africa region.
The announcement for hosting the event in Egypt was made by Microsoft at the closing ceremony of the Imagine Cup 2008 finals in Paris.
A high-level Egyptian delegation was present at the Imagine Cup 2009 finals in Paris to promote 2009 finals in Egypt.
Preparations for the wide-scale international event kicked off as First Deputy to CIT Minister Dr. Hoda Baraka received the Imagine Cup flag in Paris after the announcement was made.
Imagine Cup 2009 will be held under the auspices of the First Lady Mrs. Suzan Mubarak as part of the Cyber Peace Initiative of the Suzanne Mubarak's International Women for Peace Movement, in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, Microsoft and other international partners.
