WG4 : “ICT & Agriculture”


Scope of work :

WG4 : “ICT & Agriculture”  is working,  within the scope of :

  • The Arab Strategy for ICTs : “Building the Information Society”
  • The “WSIS” recommendations (Geneva 2003 – Tunis 2005)
  • The “Arab Economic and Social Development Summits”
    (Kuwait, 19-20 January 2009), (Sharm Sheikh, 19 January 2011), (Riadh, 20-21 January 2013)
  • “ Connect the Arab States Summit”, (Doha, 3-5 March 2012)

Tasks :

The main tasks of this WG consist of :

  • Achieving and following up AICTO project on “ICTs for a Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Arab Region”,
  • Lead the required surveys on the role played by ICT in improving agriculture in the Arab region,
  • Promote the culture of empowerment through experience share and knowledge management based on ICT use for rural and agricultural development,
  • Consolidating the necessary Arab skills for networking and knowledge management in the field of food security and rural development,
  • Disseminate awareness about the strategic sides of information and knowledge in developing agricultural information systems in the Arab Region, and increase awareness about the possibility of improving links and data exchange between both interested parties.

  • INAT- Tunisia
