On the occasion of this follow up meeting, HE/Khédija Ghariani presented a quick overview about the efforts deployed by AICTO in the field of “Arab e-content development”, achieved namely through awareness events.
Then, focus was made on further efforts to transform current projects into concrete actions.
In this respect, HE/Khédija Ghariani informed about the intention to cooperate with the Islamic Development Bank to implement a project consisting of creating 2 assistive technology centers in 2 Arab countries, amongst the least developed. This is part of “AICTO” regional initiative entitled : “Promotion of e-accessibility within the Arab Region”.
The assistive technology centers aim at helping persons with disabilities to be an effective part of their respective societies, communicate and interact with others, while facilitating their access to education, training, culture and different e-services , thus consolidating their capacities to integrate in public life.
Besides, it was agreed to organize an international conference on the occasion of the “World Intellectual Property Day”, next April 2013, which will focus on the means to develop Arab e-content, the relevant legal and regulatory framework, and e-accessibility, alongside with a training session targeting web-developers and decision-makers in the ICT field to disseminate the latest findings in the field of assistive technology.
The necessity to collaborate with research centers was also highlighted.
