AICTO 18th Council meeting

The 18th AICTO Council meeting was held in Baghdad – Iraq on 26 April 2017. (05) Arab Countries were represented with the participation of the Secretariat-General of the League of Arab States and a representative of the Republic of Yemen as observer.

The meeting was chaired by HE. Mr. Amir Al-Bayati, Iraqi Telecommunications Ministry’s Undersecretary. In his speech Mr. Al-Bayati stressed on the crucial role of AICTO in developing the ICT sector within the Arab Countries having human, technical and financial resources to catch up with technological development. He saluted its achievements and efforts towards promoting joint Arab work and cooperation and emphasized on the necessity of supporting AICTO activities and projects to be able to move forward.

From his side, HE/Mr. Mohamed Ben Amor, AICTO secretary General pointed out in his speech, the symbolism of this session, which will provide important recommendations to be the guide for the future orientations of AICTO.

During the meeting, AICTO’s activities for the period November 2016 to April 2017 were presented, focusing on its projects and achievements. Also, an overview about the new AICTO’s strategic vision : “Towards a harmonious Arab Digital / e-Society based on Innovation and Creativity, provides Arab-Regional complementarity and ensures the integration within the global digital economy and contributes to the implementation of the Sustainable development goals 2030” and its action plan for 2018 were provided and discussed.
