AICTO 17th Council meeting
The 17th session of the AICTO Council meeting was held on 22/10/2016, in Hammamet, Tunisia and was attended by its 7 members (People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Iraq , the State of Palestine, the Sultanate of Oman, the Republic of Sudan, the Republic of Tunisia) , in addition to the representative of the Secretary-general of the League of the Arab States.
The meeting was chaired by HE/Eng. Mohamed Abdul Majeed Sadok, Director General of the National Authority for e-certification in Sudan and the elected president of the council, who stressed on the role played by AICTO under the leadership of its Secretary-general, HE/Eng. Mohamed ben Amor, whom main concern consists in setting up projects serving the Arab region priorities in matter of ICT.
On this occasion, HE/Eng. Ben Amor presented the AICTO activity report 2016, as well as its action plan 2017 which focuses on intensifying the Arab common action to cope with the ICT latest developments (IOT, Smart cities, …), boosting research and innovation, and promoting cooperation with regional and international organizations which aspire to setting up an inclusive Information Society.
Besides, the revision of the AICTO creation agreement to better meet the requirements of the digital era was on the agenda.
